Mar 28, 2011
At last, after a long hiatus, I can shout out for the whole world to hear: Foresight Linux 2.5.0 is out and about! This is our first official release in almost 2 years (2.1.1 was released May 15th, 2009!!!) and it is filled to the brim with the very latest stable applications out there! A lot of work, sweat, and tears by a lot of different people went into getting this release out the door, and to all of you out there who stood by us through thick and thin, I thank you and salute you!
GNOME 3.0 Translations
Mar 18, 2011
Hey, are you feverishly working on the translation for the upcoming GNOME 3.0 release? Do you find yourself often wondering how a certain word was translated across the entire desktop applications? Well, I do and this is why I developed Pylyglot, a Django-driven localization tool that let’s you search for a word and see how it has been translated for a given language. The plan is to have fresh data straight from the GNOME git repositories every Monday for now, eventually switching to a more frequent update schedule.

You probably remember reading about my issues with running my WordPress-based blog on Dreamhost's environment, and how frustrated I was with the experience of using their Private Server services. The very next day, after reading (and replying to) the comments I received, one in particular caught my eye: Amazon’s Free Usage Tier offering new customers the following EC2 services each month for one year:
Remember my last post about the comic strip my friend Karlisson Bezerra created to explain how Creative Commons licenses work? Well, over this weekend I was talking to him and offered to translate one of my favorite strips to English (here’s the original in Brazilian Portuguese). I always get a kick out of this one and hope you’ll enjoy it too! [caption id=“attachment_1329” align=“aligncenter” width=“600” caption=“Barrabin Barrabash: SQL Inception”][/caption]
