I’m back home, together with my wife and daughters. The two days spent in the hospital helped them (wife and baby) to recharge a bit their energies, and gave me some time to spend with my older daughter. Many were the comments and emails I received during this period, all congratulating us and wishing us well. I even received a phone call from Brazil (thanks a million Kurt Kraut)! In the name of my (now slightly bigger) family I thank each and everyone of you for the kind words!

My parents wanted to know how my wife’s pregnancy was progressing… Our doctors have told us that our second daughter will be born on Valentines Day (February 14th for those who don’t live in the US). But what is science compared to my mother’s sixth sense who, after having just seen this photo sent to her via cellphone, boldly stated: she’ll be born by tomorrow! ;)

I really liked the new “face-lift” given to Launchpad (still in beta)… Something tells me we’ll see it being used by many companies in the near future as their management tool for… well, pretty much everything?!?!?

My good friend SuperToadman pointed me to this online Myer-Briggs Test For Programmers today and I was amazed at how accurate the results came out!!! The test came very, very close to describe how I see myself. Come to think of it, I can see how this shaped my decisions in life. Well, I guess the cat is out of the bag, so I might as well talk a bit about it. ;) Last November I sent out an email to pretty much every major Brazilian localization team (including Gnome, KDE, XFCE, Mozilla, OpenOffice, and the Linux Documentation Project), inviting them to a meeting to discuss how we can all benefit from our individual work. Many replies later, we decided to hold 2 sessions on the 18Th so to accommodate everyone’s schedules.

I was extremely sad to find out over the weekend that the always lovable Jorge Castro has decided to take a back seat in the Gnu/Linux world. I had a chance to meet him over the UDS-MTV and was very impressed by his genuine interest and willingness to “make the world a better place.” (c) It is very unfortunate that we have so many people out there who rather spill poison than use their energy to be constructive!
