My own F.A.Q.
Jun 08, 2007It is 04:18 EST and instead of being in bed, I’m in front of the computer. Due to a major sore throat, I’ve been struggling to sleep since 22:00 of last night… and so far the sore throat has shown no sign of retreat. Tired of laying awake in bed, I figured I’d do something else…
Since it is my birthday today, and I’m still sleep deprived, I came up with the “great idea” of writing my own F.
Keeping organized with Tasks and Dates
Jun 05, 2007After talking to a few other guys about Openbox and what other applications one can use to get the best experience from a blazing fast windows manager, I remembered the other two programs I use to keep myself organized, both at home and at work: Dates and Tasks.
Tasks is basically a ToDo list that allows me to easily and quickly keep track of my weekly tasks, prioritizing each item as I see fit.
Openbox 3.4 Released!
Jun 05, 2007It is finally here!!! Openbox 3.4 was just released, together with a fresh version of ObConf 2.0!!! I believe this is the first time I’ve avidly followed the development and release of an application, and I’m very proud of the work the entire Openbox Crew has put together! Read the official announcement here.
Packages and source code can be found here. If you’re running Foresight Linux, you can get the new versions by running:
New kids on the block
Jun 04, 2007Well, not those kids anyway… :) I just packaged a couple of new applications today to see if I could augment my Openbox experience. Well, one of them was more out of curiosity. ;)
The first one was Nitrogen, “a background browser and setter for X windows.” It is fairly light with a very clean interface. Sure I can set my wallpaper via the command line, but the preview thumbnails are very helpful!

Openbox 3.3.995 preview released
May 30, 2007For those following along with the preview releases of Openbox, version 3.3.995 was released earlier today. Changelog information can be found here. Once again, packages are available for Ubuntu Feisty, Debian Etch, Arch Linux, Slackware, and Foresight.
Geany
May 29, 2007Last week I started using the text editor and IDE Geany for the first time, and I was pleasantly surprised with it! Obviously, there’s a pretty big number of text editors out there that with the “right” number of enabled would turn an ordinary editor to a super-on-steroids IDE, but I felt Geany to be a very light and fast option, with a couple of nice features already enabled by default.
World of Padman
May 26, 2007I was reading Digg this morning when I came across a post talking about the 8 best games for Linux. I was immediately attracted to a picture of the game World of Padman, which at first glance seemed to be a game for children, but don’t let it fool you.
The first thing I did was watch this video. That is when I noticed that it looked a lot like a cartoon-ish version of Quake, but with funny characters.
America or America?
May 24, 2007First of all I want to thank every and each one of you who took the time to drop me a line about my recent citizenship. I was honestly very touched by your kind words and am looking forward to the upcoming ellection when I will be able to exercise my voting rights for the first time!
I just took some time off from work to respond to a few comments left on my blog about my use of the word America as a synonim for the country United States of America.
