Have you ever had one of those days when you say one thing, hear yourself say that one thing, but later realize that you had been saying something completely different all along?
A Gloomy Day, A Bigger Mistake
Today, another gloomy and rainy day, and after my morning routine of exercising and showering, I was full of energy and ready to go carpe some diem, right? Well, let’s just say that things took a weird turn when I realized a deadline I had been communicating all along (this is the thing I heard myself verbally telling everyone) was off by eight days (the thing everyone else heard me say). Eight days off.
The Quicksand Pit
Boy, was I embarrassed and disappointed at myself. I tried to find ways to walk back that timeline but felt that the more I tried to fix it, the deeper into the quicksand pit I obliviously walked into got.
The Right People Make All the Difference
Luckily, I have the right people with the right mindset behind me, and we’re confident we still can successfully complete the task with very minimal changes to the original plan. But man… it doesn’t feel good right now.
This experience reminded me of an important lesson: mistakes happen, even when we’re full of energy and good intentions. What matters is how we handle them and who we have around us when things go wrong. Having a team that can adapt and problem-solve together makes even the most embarrassing moments manageable.
