It was 66°F this morning when I woke up, and by the time I finished breakfast with my wife and started making my way to the gym, I realized that it was going to be a cloudy, gloomy, rainy day.
Finding Beauty in Gray Skies
Now, I know that some people don’t appreciate these cloudy, gloomy days of the Fall, which I admit can get you feeling down, especially when you’re not having a good time at work, school, or whatever it is that you need to push yourself to do in the mornings.
Not for me, though.
The Perfect Fall Day
I actually appreciate days when the sun never comes out from under the cover of the clouds and the weather is just a little bit cool enough for you to put on your comfortable sweater, put on your favorite jazz album–mine is Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, which I must’ve listened to easily over 100 times in the last couple of years–and make a piping hot cup of tea.
Or just sit down right before work starts with a good book in front of a nice bay window to stare mesmerized at the rain drops gather on the window pane, slide their way down, distorting everything in sight.
Choosing Positivity
I love these kinds of days, and despite the fact that I have a ton of meetings today, I’m choosing to stay positive and hope this is just the right beginning to set the tone for the week to come.
