Trying Something New
Yesterday, I resisted the urge to work on a desktop app and instead went shopping with my wife. While browsing, we discovered the “I Should Have Known That!” trivia game.
Childhood Memories
This discovery brought back memories of childhood when I would play board games with my sisters. We’d spend hours playing Monopoly and Canasta, creating memories that I’ve cherished for decades.
I’ve long held a desire to create a similar tradition with my own family—a regular game night where we could all disconnect from screens and connect with each other.
Previous Attempts
Despite previous attempts with games like Uno and Cat Crimes, we had struggled to maintain a consistent game night. As our daughters grew older, finding an activity everyone enjoyed became increasingly challenging.
A New Hope
The trivia game sparked a new opportunity. During a family lunch, we decided to give it a try. There were hilarious moments, like when my wife gave a hint about Arnold Schwarzenegger’s birthplace by saying “Austria-la vista, baby!”
We played three games together and enjoyed it so much that we decided to make it a regular activity.
Building Traditions
I’m hopeful that this might become a cherished family tradition, reminiscent of those wonderful game nights from my childhood. Sometimes the best traditions start with a simple “yes” to trying something new together.
Who knows? Maybe years from now, my daughters will have their own families and remember these trivia game nights with the same fondness I have for those Monopoly marathons with my sisters.
